Dr.

Andrea Farnham

Dr. Andrea Farnham is a digital epidemiologist working at the intersection of mobility, climate change, and digital health. She leads the Mobility & Planetary Health research group at the Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Prevention Institute, where she focuses on using digital data, participatory methods, remote sensing and other environmental data, and on-the-ground fieldwork to understand how human and animal movement shapes health outcomes across diverse environments. Her work spans topics from climate-sensitive disease surveillance and sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention to maternal and child health impacts of migration to traveller health, with projects in Switzerland, Mozambique, Uganda, and beyond. She also has a strong interest in safe AI and "clinician-in-the-loop" digital health solutions. As a member of the University of Zurich Population Research Center, she is particularly interested in translational research that spans disciplines and sectors.
